How long does a Spray Tan last?
All good things must come to an end, and a spray tan is no exception. While longevity varies from person to person, most spray tans last between 5–10 days. Here’s what affects its duration and how to make it last longer.
Factors That Affect Fading
• Skin Type: Dry skin or conditions like eczema can cause faster fading and patchiness. However, with proper prep, even those with dry skin (myself included) can enjoy a great tan.
• Lifestyle: Sweating, swimming, and frequent washing will shorten your tan’s lifespan. That said, don’t let this stop you from booking a holiday or spa day - your faux-glow will make you feel amazing.
• Natural Fading: Some minor patchiness around days 3–5 is normal, but a good spray tan fades evenly. I recommend tanning one day before a holiday or 1–2 days before an event for the best results. Many clients maintain a great tan for over a week, though this isn’t guaranteed.
How to Extend Your Tan
• Moisturise Daily: Using an oil-free moisturiser like Bondi Sands can extend your tan up to two weeks. Start applying it the day after your tan.
• Choose the Right SPF: Spray tans don’t provide sun protection. Use a tan-friendly SPF like Garnier Ambre Solaire Dry Mist to avoid streaking.
The best way to find out how long your spray tan lasts is to book an appointment. Brides, in particular, must book at least one trial before their wedding.
I hope this helps, and I can’t wait for you to experience the magic of a spray tan.
